Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
